The original, old farmhouse is the setting for your stay in the KwaZulu Natal Battlefields region of South Africa. It is from here that tours of the nearby battlefields depart daily for both the Batlle of Isandlwana and Rorke's Drift.

The Rattray family-owned Fugitives Drift Guest House is situated in the 2500 hectare Fugitive's Drift Nature Reserve (natural heritage site), just 8 kilometres from the battlefield of Rorke's Drift.

Rooms And Suites

Six large en-suite bedrooms individually decorated with private verandahs offer visitors views out over the surrounding gardens, distant battlefields and bushveld.

All rooms offer up en-suite bathrooms, air-conditioning and king-sized beds (or two 3/4 beds should you be sharing with a friend).

Furnishings are more of a rustic nature while still offering up a luxury feel.

We have never felt that one needs more luxury when staying here, and to be 100% honest, most people staying here will feel the same way. We simply love the intimate nature of what Fugitives Drift Guest House offers, with everything amenity within a few steps away.

Cuisine And Wine

Breakfasts and lunches are a flavoursome affair either hosted in the indoor dining room or outside on the verandah - weather dependant.

If one is participating in a full-day Isandlwana and Rorke's Drift tour of the surrounding battlefields, a picnic lunch is catered for.

At nightfall, under a canopy of stars, gather around the fire in a boma area in front of the central lodge area, where traditional country cooking is offered in a charming country setting.
