Little Tubu, A Intimate Luxury Safari Camp In The Okavango Delta For Only Six Guests
Little Tubu Tree Camp is one of the newest safari camps in the Okavango Delta, not far from her sister camp, "Tubu Tree".
Little Tubu offers a more intimate safari experience for only six guests, the ideal camp for a small group of friends or a family safari (children over the age of 8 years are welcome).
Little Tubu Tree Camp is located within a 600km² private wilderness area deep in the heart of Botswana's Okavango. The wildlife and birdlife in this area of the Jao Concession is stunning, to say the least.
This classic luxury safari camp offers guests access to game drives, night drives, mokoro excursions, boating, fishing and birding - all while surrounded by stunning wildlife and birdlife.
Rooms and Suites
Elevated wooden walkways link the three luxury safari-tented suites with the camp's central guest area.
Large bedrooms with beds draped in mosquito netting, a writing desk and indoor sitting area, outdoors a private wooden viewing with offers fantastic private views out over the surrounding African bushveld and Okavango waterways.
Each of the tented suites offers luxurious en-suite bathroom facilities with his and hers hand basins, flushing toilets and, of course, that traditional indoor and outdoor shower combination.
Cuisine and Wine
The cuisine at Little Tubu Tree Camp is at the level that one has come to expect from a company like Wilderness Safari. The cuisine and wine options are nothing short of amazing.
The highly trained team in the kitchen prepare cuisine from only the freshest ingredients that are flown in daily.
Meals are served either outdoors on the main viewing deck or indoors in the dining room area, weather dependent.
The camp's wine list features some of the best wines from South Africa and beyond. Whether you are looking for a crisp white wine to pair with your seafood dish or a rich red wine to go with your beef or venison steak, the wine selection at Little Tubu Tree Camp will not disappoint.
Camp Facilities
The tented central guest area is all about the wildlife that surrounds one when staying on Hunda Island in the remote and wild Jao Concession. Views in all directions are exceptional.
The lounge area with a small reference library, a dining room and a bar area all lead out onto a magnificent wooden viewing deck with viewing out over the Jao Concession.
A swimming pool (for those hot summer days) is found near the main dining area of Little Tubu.
Game drives and all other safari activities start and end at the entrance to the central guest area.
Limited WiFi is available throughout this area.
Safari Activities
Safari activities on offer at Little Tubu are varied depending on the time of year, but as a general rule; morning and afternoon game drives, mokoro safaris, boating safaris (in winter), catch and release fishing trips and birding from hides are all available.
Our favourite activity is, of course, the guided walking safaris; this is something that comes highly recommended by us at Uyaphi (the walk is not very strenuous).
All guides and trackers are highly skilled and professional; in fact, some of the best in Botswana are found right here at Little Tubu.
In Conclusion
If you are looking for an intimate and very private safari experience in the heart of the Okavango Delta, Little Tubu Tree Camp should be at the top of your list.
With only in three luxury safari tents, this camp offers a personalised and private safari experience that is suitable for a small group of friends or family or simply someone who just needs to escape the modern world.
The camp's central guest area overlooks a seasonal riverbed teaming with wildlife and birdlife, providing excellent opportunities for game viewing from all around the camp.
