The Luxurious Relais & Chateaux Nyika Camp With Amazing Wildlife Sightings In The Masai Mara
Mara Nyika Camp by Great Plains Conservation is an intimate and luxurious tented camp tucked away under the treetop canopy on the western side of the private Naboisho Conservancy bordering the Maasai Mara.
With accommodation fit for a king, the cuisine is up there with the best in Africa, and year-round wildlife sightings, including the annual wildebeest migration, will entertain and excite all that visit.
Early morning, late afternoon and night game drives are part and parcel of one's experience; balloon flights across the Maasai Mara can be arranged at an additional cost for those looking to complete a bucket list item.
With only 5 luxury canvas suites, Nyika Camp provides guests with an intimate and luxurious experience while being surrounded by Africa's beauty.
The guides and staff at Mara Nyika Camp are fantastic, in fact, some of the best in East Africa, making your stay unforgettable.
One of the most exclusive and luxurious lodges in the Masai Mara that we have in our portfolio of safari lodges and camps in Kenya.
Rooms and Suites
Mara Nyika Camp, with three luxury tented suites and 2x two-bedroom family suites (five in total), offers guests a chance to experience one of Kenya's three Relais and Châteaux establishments.
Three 1000 sq. foot tented suites offer king-sized beds, a writing desk, a small lounge and a dressing area, large en-suite bathrooms with flush loo, indoor shower, copper bathtub and double basins.
The family suites comprise two en-suite bedrooms with the same features as luxury suites, except for a shared lounge area situated between the two bedrooms. Perfect for a family of four.
Cuisine and Wine
The executive chef and their team operate out of a state-of-the-art kitchen; from here, one will be amazed day in and day out. The cuisine served at Mara Nyika Camp is excellent (that being the understatement of the year), with fine dining cuisine, fabulous picnics in the bushveld and dinners out under the African stars; one could not possibly ask for more.
Being a Relais and Châteaux establishment, one can expect only the best when it comes to cuisine.
The wine selection at Mara Nyika Camp is unsurprisingly superb, with an excellent variety of both local and international wines.
Guests can enjoy sipping on delicious reds, whites and rosés while taking in the incredible views from the camp or enjoying a romantic dinner under the stars.
Most dietary requirements can be catered for with prior notice.
Facilities
The tented and luxurious central guest area, the social hub of Nyika Camp by Great Plains Conservation, is where one will find the main lounge area and library, a bar area and a dining room, as well as a boutique curio shop.
Outdoors, a firepit with seating, a dining area under a canopy of acacia trees, and the African sky await.
Activities
The Masai Mara safaris and activities at Mara Nyika Camp include morning, late afternoon and night game drives in and around the wildlife-rich Naboisho Conservancy. Naboisho Conservancy is a private and exclusive wildlife destination where no two days are the same; wildlife is up there with the best in Africa, as is the birdlife.
The great migration can also be seen from the camp between June and October.
The night drives in the Naboisho Conservancy showcase the vast array of nocturnal mammals, and if one is lucky, one might get to see a lion and hyena hunt or even a leopard.
A must-do activity in our books is the Balloon flight across the Maasai Mara; this must be booked in advance of arrival to avoid disappointment.
Cultural-based tours are also on offer should one wish to visit a local Maasai village or school; this is a fantastic option for those with families in tow. All proceeds of these cultural options go towards the community, women’s groups, and schools.
Child Friendly
Mara Nyika Camp welcomes families with children eight years and older. A kids' program is suitable for the younger ones in which they have the opportunity to explore a range of experiences and topics from birding to cooking to art to tracking wildlife and game drives.
Suitable accommodation options are available with 2x two-bedroom suites with a shared lounge area.
Child-friendly menus include all the options the kids love.
Young children must be supervised (parents' responsibility) at all times as the camp is unfenced, and predators do wander through the camp.

It was one of those rare moments where you take in the majesty of nature in complete silence, disturbing nothing, saying nothing. In Kenya last month, I had the great pleasure of a balloon safari over the Masai Mara organised by the excellent and highly professional Governors Company.Giraffe Manor Review
Located in the southern suburbs of Nairobi is an English manor house. When it was built, the country was unclaimed bush rampant with African wildlife. The home of Karen Blixen is nearby who posthumously lends her name to this suburb, Karen.
