A Small Safari Camp That Offers The Best Of The Masai Mara, Ngare Serian Offers Only 4 Tented Suites
Ngare Serian Camp is a cosy and intimate option that can only be accessed by foot (across the rope bridge), not too far away from Serian Camp, 'the original'.
Ngare Serian is only one of eleven camps located within the famed Mara North Conservancy, a conservancy famed for its wildlife and birdlife sightings year-round, including the Great Migration.
Only four tented safari suites make up the camp, and with highly knowledgeable and passionate staff and guides, one is almost certain of a safari of a lifetime.
The central guest area and tented suites are positioned on the famed Mara River banks with superb views. Birdlife around the camp is also spectacular, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled!
Ngare Serian Camp is the perfect safari option for a large family or a small group of friends when booking the lodge out on an exclusive use basis.
The perfect Masai Mara safari destination for those looking for a few nights through to a week or 10-day stay.
Rooms and Suites
Ngare Serian Camp offers up only four large and luxurious tented suites (Meru-styled safari tents); all suites are positioned along the west bank of the Mara River and far enough apart to ensure maximum privacy.
All four suites are set on wooden decking with large covered verandahs, large bedrooms with king-sized beds, a small lounge area and, of course, those stunning en-suite bathrooms. All suites offer up views out over the river rapids and onto the Oloololo Escarpment in the distance.
The en-suite bathrooms offer up hot and cold running water, a flushing toilet, and a shower; bathtubs are on the veranda decking, with private views out over the river.
Cuisine and Wine
The cuisine at Ngare Serian Camp is simply delicious; whether it be breakfast, brunch, lunch, high tea dinner, or a picnic out in the bushveld, one is in for the right royal treat. Dining locations include the wooden viewing deck, the indoor dining area or out on the lawn by the Mara River.
The chef and their team in the kitchen do a fantastic job with only the best and freshest ingredients sourced locally or brought in from Nairobi.
The wine selection at Ngare Serian Camp is superb, with a range of reds and whites to suit all palates. The wines are sourced from some of the best winemakers in South Africa and other international markets, and there is sure to be a wine to match any dish on the menu.
Bush breakfasts and picnic options are available when out on a game drive.
Dietary requests are catered for with advance notice.
Facilities
The central guest area at Ngare Serian Camp is a classic tented affair, with a lounge area, small library, reception desk and indoor dining area. Outdoors a wooden viewing deck with a fire pit and seating area is the place to be, as the views from here are magnificent.
The main attraction is the rope bridge; it adds something very different and is a great place to stand and take in all that surrounds us while the Mara River flows underneath.
On a side note, no Wi-Fi is available - this is a getaway from the modern world, and having no access to the internet is fantastic now and again. If an internet connection is essential, please have a look at the rest of our Masai Mara Lodges!
Activities
Ngare Serian is situated in a private and exclusive 1500-acre wilderness, yes, 1500 acres that are purely for the use of guests at Serian and no one else.
Morning, afternoon, night, and even full-day game drives are part and parcel of one's wildlife experience. Professional guides and trackers guide one through the bushveld to view the fantastic wildlife sighting on offer.
The Ngare Serian Camp offers a variety of optional safari activities for guests to enjoy. These include guided walking safaris, fly camping, fishing, and hot air ballooning.
Night drive safari options are available as this is a private conservation area.
Each of these activities provides guests with a unique opportunity to explore the Mara North Conservancy and its wildlife.

It was one of those rare moments where you take in the majesty of nature in complete silence, disturbing nothing, saying nothing. In Kenya last month, I had the great pleasure of a balloon safari over the Masai Mara organised by the excellent and highly professional Governors Company.Giraffe Manor Review
Located in the southern suburbs of Nairobi is an English manor house. When it was built, the country was unclaimed bush rampant with African wildlife. The home of Karen Blixen is nearby who posthumously lends her name to this suburb, Karen.
