Explore Mount Kenya, Her Forests And Her Wildlife, All From Serena Mountain Lodge
The only 'Tree Lodge' ever to be built on the slopes of Kenya's legendary Mount Kenya National Park, Serena Mountain Lodge offers a matchless game viewing opportunity whilst combining a glorious panorama of mountain vistas with the primordial splendours of an ancient rainforest. Floating 2,195 m high on the flanks of Kenya's highest mountain and secreted deep within her largest forest reserve, the lodge offers not only the champagne clarity of mountain air, the tranquillity of the forest and a colourful cavalcade of wildlife but also the chance of scaling the icy peaks of Africa's second-highest mountain.
Guests at Serena Mountain Lodge can also awake to the trumpeting of elephants, fall asleep to the symphony of the African night, sit in stillness, and observe the fascinating interplay of the animals as they arrive to drink, bathe, spar, and forage around the water hole.
Finally, venture down to the secret viewing hide by the water's edge and experience the incredible thrill of being only meters away from some of the most massive beasts on earth.
Rooms and Suites
The brightly renovated rooms at Serena Mountain Lodge feature thick-pile, locally woven rugs and wall hangings.
The décor has been designed to provide glowing warmth and fireside comfort against the evening chill of this unique tropical mountain environment.
Cuisine and Wine
The traditionally timbered dining room at Serena Mountain Lodge is surrounded by large windows that take full advantage of the surrounding scenery. It has been built on stilts to seemingly float above the liana-strung forest whilst commanding enchanting views over this primaeval environment.
The menu has been planned to blend traditionally hearty safari favourites, spicy ethnic cuisine, crisp salads and internationally-themed dishes.
Facilities
Inside the Serena Mountain Lodge, the impression of having boarded a ship is perpetuated by a combination of log-panelled walls, timbered game-viewing decks and winding stairs leading to a selection of snugly comfortable, cabin-styled rooms.
Cool, tranquil and hushed for optimum wildlife sightings, the open-air viewing deck looks down onto the endlessly shifting scenes of the wildlife theatre that ebbs and flows around the salt lick and waterhole below.
Property amenities are what one would expect from any Serna resort in East Africa.
Activities
Elephants, Cape buffalos, rhinos and waterbuck are regular sights on the evening and day game drives.
At any other time of the day, you can spot wildlife in the specially constructed viewing bunker connected to the lodge by a short tunnel. Here you will get spectacularly close to the animals that feed at the waterhole.

Child Friendly
The Serena Mountain Lodge is located immediately adjacent to its own waterhole, attracting a wide range of game, including elephants, as such silence is imperative. For this reason, we regret that children below the age of seven cannot be accommodated at our Mount Kenya lodge.
Children over seven years will be most welcome, but we must ask that they respect our request for an atmosphere of quiet within the lodge, especially in the photo hide and on the viewing deck.
In Conclusion
The Serena Mountain Lodge is the perfect place to stay while enjoying the beauty of Mount Kenya.
With its prime location, guests can enjoy a variety of activities such as game drives, nature walks, and even hikes up Mount Kenya.
The lodge also offers comfortable rooms with beautiful views, delicious food, and excellent facilities.
So if you're looking for an amazing safari experience in Africa, be sure to check out the Serena Mountain Lodge.
