Namibia Kalahari Lodges
Luxury Lodges Surrounded by The Beauty Of Namibia's Kalahari Desert
The Kalahari basin stretches across Namibia (south-east), South Africa (north-west) and Botswana (most), covering a total area of 2.5 million km².
When one thinks of deserts in Namibia, the Namib Desert would be the first to spring to mind, with most people forgetting that the Kalahari with her red sand dunes, wildlife and birdlife, dried-out waterways and the indigenous San Bushmen who have lived here for over 20 000 years even exists.
The Kalahari region makes for that perfect stopover when travelling between Windhoek, The Fish River Canyon and Luderitz with scenic desert landscapes, red sand dunes, desert wildlife, game drives and, of course, a good selection of Namibia lodges from which to choose.
The best way to get to the Kalahari region in Namibia is to fly into Windhoek, the capital of the country. From there, it is a short(ish) drive to the Kalahari.
We would highly recommend driving this section or via road transfer; the distances and not that great, and the scenery is simply fantastic.
Namibia's Kalahari Desert is home to lodge options that are spacious and comfortable and offer stunning views of the surrounding desert landscape with red rolling sand dunes. The Desert is a truly unique destination, and the lodges here provide the perfect base for exploring it, be it by game drive, quad bike safari or even walking excursions.
We would suggest at least a two-night stay in order to soak it all in before departing for the Fish River Canyon.
Just as a quick side note, summertime temperatures can quickly climb to 40º Celsius and above, while in winter, nighttime temperatures can fall below zero. One most certainly needs to pack accordingly for both summer and winter alike.
With luxurious accommodations and breathtaking views, our portfolio of safari lodges provides the perfect basecamp from which to explore this remarkable region.
