Day 1: Volcanoes National Park

• Upon your arrival in Kigali, you will be warmly greeted by your knowledgeable safari guide, who will be your trusted companion throughout your safari adventure.
• Embark on your journey to Virunga Lodge, where you can indulge in pre-dinner cocktails on the picturesque western terrace, offering breathtaking views of the majestic Virunga Volcanoes.
• Alternatively, you can find solace and warmth by the cosy fire indoors.
• The approximate driving time to Virunga Lodge is approximately 3 hours, while a scenic helicopter flight will take around 45 minutes.
• To ensure a smooth experience, we kindly request that you book flights arriving into Kigali no later than 10:00 am.

Day 2: Volcanoes National Park

• Begin your day by waking up early and enjoying a hearty breakfast before embarking on an unforgettable gorilla tracking adventure in Parc National des Volcans.
• Traverse the captivating bamboo forest nestled on the slopes of the Virunga Volcanoes.
• After a hike lasting between one and three hours, you will have the privilege of spending an hour in the awe-inspiring presence of majestic and gentle mountain gorillas.
• Later, return to the lodge just in time for a delectable late lunch.
• Please note that some gorilla families may prove more elusive, resulting in a full-day tracking experience, especially during wet and muddy conditions.

Day 3: Volcanoes National Park

Choose from the following optional activities:

• Embark on a second gorilla trek (additional permits required).
• Trek alongside the endangered and rare golden monkey.
• Journey to the grave of pioneering primatologist Dian Fossey and pay homage at the gorilla cemetery, where her beloved gorillas rest eternally.
• Explore the Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund, located near Kinigi.
• Delight in a guided birding and community walk to Lake Bulera, where you can immerse yourself in the vibrant village life.
• Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
• Accommodation: Virunga Lodge

Day 4: Kigali

• Depart from Virunga Lodge and make your way to Kigali, taking the opportunity to embark on a city tour and visit the poignant Kigali Genocide Memorial if time allows.
• This memorial serves as a powerful testament to Rwanda's history and its triumphant journey towards healing and reconciliation (entrance fees are to be paid/donated directly by guests).
• Later, transfer to the airport in a timely manner for your return flight. (Breakfast and lunch will be provided).
• The drive from Virunga Lodge to Kigali takes approximately 3 hours, while a helicopter flight takes about 45 minutes.
