Activities
Game Drives are predominantly enjoyed on the "Northern" bank of the Nile River, encompassing a vast savannah area that culminates in the papyrus-fringed delta where the river converges with Lake Albert. A quick ferry crossing or boat transfer from Bakers Lodge whisks guests to this remarkable location, where the opportunity to spot elephants, giraffes, buffalos, lions, leopards, hyenas, various species of antelope, and a diverse array of birdlife awaits.
A fleet of watercraft operates daily scheduled and private trips, departing directly from the private lodge jetty to the park's centrepiece - the breathtaking Murchison Falls in Fajao Gorge. With approximately three hours on the water, this journey offers exceptional safari viewing en route to and from the falls. The boats provide an up-close encounter with the thriving hippo and crocodile populations in the river, as well as a plethora of animals and birdlife along the riverbanks.
Situated 17 kilometres downstream from Bakers Lodge, the Victoria Nile Delta is a sanctuary for rare wetland birds, including the majestic shoebill and endemic papyrus species. Morning cruises present a visual spectacle of mist rising from the tranquil waters as our vessels navigate the intricate papyrus channels of the delta.
The Nile River at Murchison is renowned for its exhilarating sport fishing opportunities. The turbulent waters below the falls are home to large, robust Nile Perch, as well as various species of catfish. Additionally, a variety of smaller species are often used as live bait in pursuit of the larger fish.
