Laikipia Lodges
Safari Lodges And Tented Camps In Kenya's Second Largest Conservancy, The Laikipia
Laikipia County, located on the edge of the famed and remote Northern Frontier in Kenya, is a region situated between the slopes of Mt. Kenya and the rim of the Great Rift Valley. The snow-capped silhouette of Mt. Kenya, vast open plains to scenic roll hills, this is the vastness of the Laikipia, Kenya's second-largest conservancy (after Tsavo).
Once dominated by livestock ranches, substantial conservation efforts have transformed the region into one of east Africa's most exciting and exclusive wildlife destinations teeming with wildlife and birdlife. Laikipia County is now an area that now offers some of the best game drives, walking safaris, horse riding, game viewing and safari activities in East Africa.
Private and community conservation areas within the Laikipia County include; Borana Conservancy, the Ol Pejeta Conservancy and the Lewa wilderness, to mention a few.
Wildlife that can be seen and photographed in and around the Laikipia include; Grevy's zebra, black rhino, African wild dog, reticulated giraffe, greater and lesser kudu, gerenuk and Beisa oryx, and that is not forgetting lion, leopard, cheetah, elephant and buffalo. In other words, the wildlife here is up there with the best that Africa as a continent has to offer.
Most (if not all) safari lodges and tented camps in the Laikipia Plateau are easily accessible from all other areas of Kenya, with numerous airstrips and good road infrastructure.
Getting to your lodge or safari camp in this area in northern Kenya is either by light aircraft or road transfer; the choice is yours and will depend on one's safari budget. Fly-in safari transfers are the most popular options as they save time travelling while maximising one's time on the ground photographing and spotting wildlife, especially in a region as remote as the Laikipia.
Direct flights from Europe, the United Kingdom and the United States into Nairobi, a light aircraft transfer will see you landing at any one of the private airstrips near your chosen Laikipia lodge or camp.
Contact us, and together with our Laikipia safari and travel experts, we will tailor-make that dream trip and experience of a lifetime that will include one of the below lodge options.
