The exquisite Elewana Kifaru House, hidden deep inside the famed Lewa Conservancy (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), without question, Kenya's most successful wildlife conservancy to date. Located on a slight rise overlooking the plains and forests of the Lewa, all the way through to Mt. Kenya in the far distance. A truly romantic safari destination.
A small safari lodge with just five thatched cottages, Kifaru House, offers guests that private, intimate yet homely safari experience that many people dream of and should, in all honesty, be at the top of one's list of establishments when looking to visit this region of Kenya.
The Lewa Wildlife Conservancy offers a wide variety of safari activities to view and experience over 70 recorded mammal species, including; the 'Big 5', cheetah and wild dog, to mention only but a few. Safari activities include; game drives, walking safaris, horse and camel riding, tribal village visits, day trips to Ngare Ndare forest, interacting with the anti-poaching sniffer dogs and guided visits to an archaeological site.

Rooms and Suites
There are only five charming thatched cottages options: four with luxury en-suite cottages and one family cottage with two generous en-suite bedrooms. A private and intimate affair awaits, the perfect safari option for a small group of friends, families, honeymooners and romantics alike.
The thatched cottages are large and luxurious and open up via glass doors to fantastic views across the Lewa Conservancy and beyond. King-sized four poster beds draped with mosquito netting, a writing desk, a small lounge area and through large glass doors, an outdoor verandah.
The en-suite bathrooms offer up flushing toilets, twin washbasins, and large private showers open to the African skies, and only one of the cottages has a Victorian-styled bath.
The safari cottage amenities at Elewana Kifaru House include 24-hour power, in-room charging facilities, Wi-Fi Internet access, a music system, and a fully stocked minibar.
The cottages are also equipped with air conditioning and heating for guests' comfort.
Cuisine and Wine
Elewana and her numerous lodges and camps spread throughout Tanzania and Kenya are renowned for excellent cuisine, and Kifaru House is certainly no different.
One can expect the best in cuisine, ingredients, and meal variations no matter the time of day; meals are served in various dining locations around the lodge or the conservancy. Bush breakfasts while out on safari are a very popular option.
The wine selection at Elewana Kifaru House is excellent and diverse, with something to appeal to everyone. From reds and whites to sparkling wines, there is a wine for every palate and occasion. The lodge also has a well-stocked bar, so guests can enjoy their favourite tipple alongside their meal.
Facilities
The central guest area at Elewana Kifaru House offers that typical classic safari lodge feel with thatched roofing, luxurious interiors and views that seem to stretch out well over the horizon and onto Mt. Kenya in the distance.
Indoors one will find a lounge area with a small library, a dining room with a large fireplace, a sitting room, and a bar area. Outdoors, a verandah with seating, a dining area, a magnificent heated infinity pool is all surrounded by perfectly manicured lawns.
The central guest area does offer WiFi for when one needs to catch up with the happenings of the outside world. Satellite television is available, handy for watching an upcoming important sporting event.
Located within walking distance of Elewana Kifaru House is a helipad available to those who would prefer to fly in via a scenic helicopter trip.
Activities
When staying at Elewana Kifaru House, all safari activities are centred around exploring and experiencing all the famed Lewa Wildlife Conservancy offers. Shared and private game drives showcase the surrounding plains, woodlands, and wetlands that are home to the 'Big 5', cheetah, wild dog, as well as Grevy's zebra, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, Beisa oryx, and gerenuk, to mention but a few.
Walking safari options are available for those who want and need to stretch their legs while getting a different perspective of the surrounding fauna and flora.
For birders, the birdlife is fantastic year-round.
Elewana Kifaru House offers guests a variety of optional safari activities to enjoy while on their stay. These activities include horse-riding, and camel-riding, visits to Conservancy HQ, visits to the Anti-Poaching Tracker Dogs, visits to community villages and schools, and day trips to Ngare Ndare forest.
Community visits are a great way for guests to learn more about the local Masai people and their culture. Guests can visit villages and schools to meet with local residents and learn about their way of life. They can also experience traditional dances and music performances.
